Botox
– From The Rich And Famous
To Average Jo (Who Is A Man)
By Caroline Tye
First models used it to stop the lines and wrinkles. Then Botox
became mass market and available on nearly every high street for
women in their 30’s and upwards. Now a trend has been noticed
amongst clinics in London that has taken everyone by surprise.
Male executives are using Botox injections to stop them looking
tired and stressed out and even sweaty under the arms.
When
they have got a big interview, presentation or business deal to
close, looking fresh and under control is essential, and Botox
can undoubtedly help.
So
how does Botox work?
Those
frown lines between your brows and around your eyes form over
time as the result of muscle activity. BOTOX is a purified protein
produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, it is injected
by specialist Doctors directly into those muscles. It works by
blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles;
this reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those persistent
lines to form.
The
same principle is true of excessive under arm and hand sweating.
To treat armpit and hand hyperhidrosis, Botox is administered
via tiny injections, within the skin of the affected area, to
reduce excessive sweating by blocking the release of the chemical
acetylcholine from the nerve fibres that stimulate overactive
sweat glands.
Botox
works after about 4 days and can last over 4 months. In London
Botox on your face will cost between £200 and £400
depending on how many areas need doing. This is often seen as
a small price to pay for what are normally dramatic benefits.
